The Upper Room Partners with The Granite YMCA on four part series

DERRY, NH:            In partnership with The Granite YMCA, The Upper Room will present a four part workshop series for parents, grandparents and teens to promote family communication. Held at Londonderry Middle School, the free sessions will encourage practicing new skills to discuss challenging topics. The program kicks off on Thursday, September 15th at 6:15 p.m.

"Certain issues are both very important and very difficult to discuss, and this series will promote safe and open communication in families," explains TUR Executive Director Brenda Guggisberg. “This supportive group setting will allow parents, grandparents and teens to practice crucial communication skills. It is an opportunity for parents and teens to be together, receiving critical information about the impacts of teens’ decisions.”

Topics will include distracted driving, depression, understanding one’s digital footprint, and making choices about drugs and alcohol.

“Teens face a broad range of challenges today and family communication is more important than ever before,” said Lisa Fitzgerald, Branch Director, YMCA of Greater Londonderry.  “A large part of our mission is to support strong families and as such, we’re thrilled to be able to partner with The Upper Room on this important program.”

Dates for the sessions are September 15, December 1, January 19, 2017 and March 23, 2017.  All sessions run from 6:15 – 7:30 p.m. and will be held at Londonderry Middle School, 313 Mammoth Road in Londonderry.

While the program is free, attendees are asked to register in advance as space is limited.  To reserve your space, please contact Lisa Fitzgerald at (603) 437-9622 or via email at
